AbaQulusi Municipality Museum Day

The AbaQulusi Municipality hosted a successful Museum Day on Wednesday 01 June to celebrate International Museum Day coupled with the celebration of Africa Month. This was an occasion to raise awareness on how important museums are in the development of society.
AbaQulusi is the heritage heart of KwaZulu-Natal. It is here where the great Princess Mkabayi resided, it here where you’d find the great caves of KwaNgenetsheni which housed close to 4000 Zulu warriors and many other heritage site.
It was important to celebrate this day to embrace history and culture and to immerse ourselves in the richness of our collective cultural heritage and also promote tourism development.
The Arts and Culture Museum Services and Amafa emphasised the importance of developing a digital repository on cultural heritage of AbaQulusi, in order to ensure that AbaQulusi culture and heritage is collected, digitised for the purpose of preservation and dissemination for future generations.
Amongst the guests present were Mr. Radikobo Ntsimane Deputy Director ofArts and Culture Museum Services Mr. James van Vuuren Deputy Director of Amafa aKwaZulu Natal, Gustav Rohrs, Inkosi Zulu yesizwe sakwaKhambi and councilors.
